Media Center
Jackson County Public Schools teaches the NC Standard Course of Study as adopted and facilitated through the NC Department of Public Instruction. You can find the Standard Course of Study that all NC public schools are expected to teach at https://www.dpi.nc.gov/districts-schools/classroom-resources/academic-standards/standard-course-study
Materials in libraries and media centers are reviewed by School Media Coordinators who are licensed by the state of NC and who possess a master's degree in Library Science. School Media Coordinators review and vet all resources placed in school media centers. A record of all books and materials is maintained in the Follett media directory online which may be found at https://jcps.follettdestiny.com/common/welcome.jsp?context=saas042_3278678
Classroom Library Catalog
All materials placed in Classroom Libraries are carefully selected to support the curriculum and align with educational standards. The inclusion of materials is determined by one of two criteria: the books and resources are either a component of the adopted district curriculum for the relevant grade level or subject area, or they have been reviewed and vetted by highly qualified teachers and education professionals within Jackson County Public Schools to ensure age-appropriateness, educational value, and alignment with academic goals. A searchable record of all classroom books may be found at: https://www.librarything.
